The SFP+ is an enhanced version of the SFP that supports data rates of up to 10 Gb/s. SFP+ supports 8G and 16G Fiber Channel, 10 Ethernet and Optical Transport Network standard OTU2, SFP+. modules have exactly the same dimensions as regular SFPs, allowing the equipment manufacturer to reuse existing physical designs for 24- and 48-port switches and modular line cards. Compared to previous XENPAK or XFP modules, SFP+ modules leave more circuitry to be implemented on the host card instead of in the module.
